Delta Does It

Emerging on the Australian scene in 2003 with her debut album Innocent Eyes, Delta Goodrem has gone from strength to strength and is hands down one of the most talented singers Australia has ever produced.

It's been known for a while that this songstress has been attempting to break the American market which is a tough thing for Aussies to do. Kylie Minogue has been attempting such a thing for decades. Well it appears last night was Goodrem's moment - unprepared and definitely not planned on.

Dancing with the Stars which airs on the abc and has over 15 million viewers each week is now in it's 12th season proving to be a hit show. Originally invited to come and perform a duet with Michael Bolton of I'm Not Ready, Goodrem ended up filling in at the last minute for Adele who was under the weather and simply could not sing for the night. Never performing the song, Goodrem approached the stage in an absolutely stunning floor length gown and belted out Caroline King's hit Natural Woman with such raw emotion it covers you in goosebumps.

She absolutely nailed it! The standing ovation you see from the crowd wasn't for the dancers but for her. Delta certainly put her mark on the town and will be the water cooler talk for days to come.

This woman hands down deserves it. In 2004 Delta was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. In 2005, I personally was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Delta was at the peak of her new found fame thanks to her role as Nina in Neighbours both in Australia and the UK. I was merely an HSC student living in Sydney.

With all the attention, beauty and talent she has, you would think Delta would be living the life. She certainly is but is the most grounded celebrity out there. Just days before my final chemo, I had a phone call. It came through from Germany. It was Delta Goodrem. She'd been passed word (through a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend) about my diagnosis and dropped me a line purely to say hello and wish me well.

That's right. Delta was about to fly back to the UK and took a moment from her busy schedule to contact a young girl on the other side of the world she had never met to simply push her on and keep her spirits high during an incredibly low, dark time in her life.

That to me is the most precious and outstanding thing anyone could have ever done and for that I am forever thankful. She will do great things for this world and it won't just be through her lyrics and nightingale voice.

As Delta says - Love & Light

Singe Can Sing

School student by day, singing YouTube sensation by night. I introduce to you the ever amazing William Singe .

This 17 year old from the Northern Beaches in Sydney is just ridunkulous! When I first heard about him I thought to myself “yea right! This kid knows how to lipsync to a mic. Well done hero” but then I kept looking. How many kids have you heard at a school recital with a voice like this

Studying for his HSC this year, William has achieved an abundance of awards outside of school. His achievements are through the roof proving he is one dedicated and talented man.

*Australian Idol (2009) Backing vocalist
*Ja Rule Australian Tour- Opening Act
*ACMF Songwriting Competition (RnB category) - (2nd Place)
*Warringah Mall Star Search - (2nd Place)
*Cocacola Talent Search Winner - (1st Place)
*UrbanStar 2007 Winner - (1st Place)

With influences such as Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, India Arie, Alicia Keys & Usher, William has a voice that is smooth, sexy and incredibly addictive.

I’d love you all to go check him out! You better not forget this face because he is going places.

Feed My Edgar

Feeding Edgar
Radar Radio has an abundance of awesome new acts filling the airwaves for your listening pleasure. One of the stand out bands currently on Radar Radio is Feeding Edgar.

Last night I headed to one of their more intimate gigs at Bar Me – Kings Cross. The venue was small, clean and a little romantic (dim lighting, grand piano in the corner, lots of deep reds and candles). I managed to catch the end of an acoustic set by
Johnson Jay . This guy has talent. On the stage, this bloke has presence. Sure he’s a wild haired, passionate guy that doesn’t have much luck with the ladies (His words, not mine), but boy of boy do you not want to take your eyes off him while he performs. Not only was his voice smooth and melodic, but he interacted with the audience with such ease and familiarity. Very cool stuff.

Then it was onto Feeding Edgar. I’d seen these guys once before and knew I had to check them out again to share their stuff with all you bloggees. They’ve had radio play on
Triple M before and it’s easy to tell why. These guys are so easily marketable. I can picture massive things for the northern beaches boys thanks to their looks, catchy yet unique sound and diversity they displayed in their set.

Their only downfall last night was the stage. I couldn't check out the drummer doing his thing as the piano was in the way and bass player Mickey wouldn't come out of the shadows... COME OUT MAN!!!! WE WANT TO SEE YOU!

If you get a chance, you should definitely go see these guys perform. The girls will swoon, the guys will attempt to dance and the crowd will go wild. Stay tuned... the boys won’t be disappearing anytime soon.

An Unlikely Gig With A Killer Reunion

Friday 4th December and Saturday 5th December was the Sydney Telstra 500. Why am I telling you about car racing you ask? Well did you see the unbelievable line up they had for the two nights?

Hosted at the ANZ stadium in Sydney, the guys from V8 Super Racing really brought the goods to the stage. Friday night consisted of all the aussie acts you love, including DJ Bzurk, The Potbelleez, Sneaky Sound System and The Presets. Unbelievable you say? You’re not wrong! But wait, there was more.

Not only did they have all the young favourites on the Friday night, the Saturday night raised the bar even higher. Focusing on a more rock based set of talent, the rev heads all got to watch MM9, Grinspoon, The Living End AND Cold Chisel! That’s right guys – Cold Chisel got back together for this one event. Every one of the Cold Chisel crew came back together last night for a reunion which was the first show together since a one-off benefit gig they did back in 2005 in Melbourne.

Barnsey announced (sort of) this reunion back in September to The Grill Team on Triple M.
Check out how he cheekily spoke about it to the guys here.

Last night the over 50s showed no signs of their age as they rocked out in front of thousands, with the crowd singing along to all the bands legendary hits. Will this be the start of something that could once again be Australia’s answer to The Rolling Stones?
